st.joe Miss Brock again let's continue our training our email is through Microsoft you have lots of different ways that you can access your school email there is an outlaw what should be available on your school issued iPads you can also open Safari and go to office.com most email addresses are first initial middle initial last name at Joseph. MS you do need to check your email several times throughout the day and the Microsoft email has a focused section and other section and junk mail so make sure looking at all of those each time that you're checking your mail sometimes our fax emails to get sent to the junk folder so please be checking that every at least every few days but your main email you need to check a few times every day please so my new students your email password is Bruins hashtag 20 with a capital B you will be prompted to reset it and you also want to add this password to your LastPass app return students you should already know your password if not you can put in a technology help work order and we'll get that reset for you the first time that you log into office.com it is going to prompt you to enter a phone number or a second email address and that's going to be really helpful for resetting your password in the future instead of having to wait when you submit a work order so I do encourage everybody to go ahead and go to office.com and login so that it will prompt you to enter that phone number or secondary email address your email etiquette I need you guys to pay attention to what you're doing your words matter so when you're the best email possible you're going to submit a subject line that is short but descriptive such as missing grade for English article of the week assignment you want to start with a greeting good morning mrs. Brock be polite ask questions make the man's you can see a good email would be good morning mrs. Brock I submitted my article of the week late the great hasn't been entered yet do you know when you might be able to get that gray dinner thanks for accepting it late and you can see in here. there is a descriptive subject line over here on the incorrect version the subject line says enter my grades and I'll let you know as a teacher if I see that email it's not going to start me off in a good mood and then they go on to say I turned in my forever go to my mom's going to ground me when are you going to put my grade in you know it doesn't have good grammar and spelling things are capitalized correctly and it's just not polite so please try to remember to speak in emails just like you would in all right my fax people if you are brand new to the school I need you to pay attention to this part my returning students you can kind of zone out for a minute fast forward new students an account so you're going to go to the school homepage which is www. St.joe Bruins. Com scroll down until you see a bunch of boxes in the middle of the page and I want you to click the one that says facts to get into facts you're going to click the just the picture effects you can also just go to fax mgt.com and click on parent log-in in the top right and then choose fat family portal which is also known as parentsweb once the screen that you see in front of you is it pops up you need to click create new family portal account so you're going to enter the district code S8 SMS it should already be filled in for you you're in enter your school email address and then you'll click enter that's going to send an now that you need to go check so navigate back to your student email and look for the email from Facts as is support and click the link that is in the email and once you click that link you're going to something that looks like this down at the bottom of your screen right now and you're going to change your password please change the username that's going to cause you some food problems if you do but do create a new password and then save it go into your LastPass app and write down this password please and then you're going to navigate back to this page that you should now look like this going to type in your username and that new password you need to make sure that you click student right here and then you'll click login I'm going to take you to the family portal the family portal can be a great place for you to your grades or attendance any sort of school announcements that we have you guys will click student and that's where you'll be able to see your grades and your schedule schedules are not going to be visible until the first day of cool but I'm well aware that many of you have found a way around it so it is what it is now your LMS your teachers will be using this a lot this year so if you open a new tab go to new tab in Safari excuse me. Renweb.com enter the district code s j dash Ms and then enter that username and password that you just did to get the family web please notice you do not put us for the username it's just the stem okay once you get locked into the LMS this is how most people have been viewing their skin and that's fine that you guys are saying your schedules but just know that this the counselors are still changing schedules so this might not be what you see on the first day of school this is your dashboard it's going to show you all of your classes at a glance you'll be able to see any sort of upcoming assignments that you have right here so it's very helpful and then when it's time to submit those assignments you can actually click on the assignment from the dashboard you don't have to open up the class to submit you can go ahead and click on it from here but you can also go up to the top left corner and click these three lines and you'll see the option to choose calendar and that will take you to this for you so this is another great way to see all of you Simon's that are coming up and I believe you can click on the assignments from here as well but you can also click this plus button and the top is getting the bottom corner and other events if you want to use this as a organization you can put in your sports practices your work schedule any sort of other events that you have in your life you can add those on to this calendar and help keep you sane organization is key to success I promise when it comes to submitting assignments want to tell you right now when you are saving files to your OneDrive make sure you're not using special characters like and a pause a, or a dash I had students to grammatically correct and so they named their final hero's journey hero apostrophe-s but when they did that fact couldn't open the file so I'm telling you now do not save file names with special characters your teachers know that I have told you this and so they are likely to take off points for and count it as being submitted late if you make that mistake but you do want to name your files something specific like your teacher's name actually no let's not do teachers name let's do your last name and the name of the article the name of the assignment something that will help you and help your teacher know whose file it is should something happen after you submit your work I do think it's a good idea to navigate back to the homepage of your LMS and then click on the assignment again to make sure that your work got submitted if you click on the assignment and you see that there is an attachment here then you know that you submitted your work if all you see is this red circle with a little clipboard then you know that you need to submit it again
