Dena Kinsey is in her third year as principal of St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison, Miss., just north of Jackson. The school provides a rigorous college prep curriculum grounded in the teachings of the Catholic faith. St. Joseph is the only Catholic middle and high school serving metropolitan Jackson.
Before becoming principal in March 2017, Kinsey worked for 10 years in retirement planning – using her education skills to help corporate employees better understand their retirement plans. She spent almost 15 years as a classroom teacher in public and parochial schools beginning with the first grade.
Kinsey was teaching 12th Grade religion and serving as high school director at St. Joseph when she took the position of principal.
Kinsey is licensed by the state of Mississippi to teach math and serve as a school administrator. She has a bachelor’s degree in education from Mississippi State University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Mississippi College. She is currently completing her doctoral degree in education from Mississippi State University.
