Visual Arts

The visual arts department includes drawing, sculpting, painting, and pottery. Art I through IV and Pottery I and II are year long courses, giving students a chance to explore many forms and styles of visual art. Painting and Drawing are semester courses that allow students to refine and practice their skills.

Students’ artwork is always on display throughout the Fine Arts Center as well as in the main lobby of the administration building, to showcase the exceptional work done by the students. Student artwork can also be viewed and purchased at school functions throughout the year. Gift of the Season is St. Joseph’s Christmas Concert where all visual art students have an opportunity to display and sell their work. In the spring, the school hosts a Senior Art Show to showcase current and past art of all seniors. The show is almost completely student run, which gives the students hands-on experience in putting together an art show. Both of these events have taken place for the 2013-2014 school year, but dates for next year will be posted during the summer.

All visual arts classes art taught by Mrs. Lou Ann Turner and Mrs. Toni Harris. Art I, II, and III are taught by Mrs. Harris. Art III and IV and Pottery I and II are taught by Mrs. Turner. This multimedia cross was completed by Art II students.
