St. Joe Swim Team 2015
 BEARS CAN SWIM

PARENT and SWIMMER INFORMATIONAL MEETING
TUESDAY, JULY 28
6:00 P.M.
ST. JOE FINE ARTS CENTER

We will try on suits, get our meet schedule, order spirit wear, discuss practice schedule, discuss breakfast and carpool sign up and have questions answered.  Bring check to write for swim fees.

The St. Joe swim team is open to all students, grades 7-12.
It is a competitive team, and the season runs from the start
of school until Halloween. Last year the girls finished as the
runner-up 2A school and the boys were third.  Losing only
3 seniors, the team should finish in the top again this fall.

Lauri Stamm Collins, the Director of Advancement for St. Joe,
coaches the team. Lauri has over 30 years experience coaching and was recently named Coach of the Year for boys swimming in Mississippi. Mr. Kevin Hankins and Mr. Andrew Harris also help coach the team.

The Courthouse Racquet Club and the Jackson Yacht Club graciously allow the team to practice free of charge at their facilities. While the weather stays warm, morning practice is at the Northeast Courthouse outdoor pool, and afternoon practices are at the Yacht Club. Once the weather gets too cool, usually around October 1, we swim at the Lakeland Courthouse in the mornings only.

The majority of our practices are held at 5:30 a.m. before school. Though it sounds terrible to be up that early, our swimmers really like it. Many play another sport after school, some like having afternoons free to study or cheer on the volleyball or middle school football team.  The camaraderie is strong at practice, and all look forward to breakfast together after practice.

Swimmers will be required to have a team suit, team t-shirt, team cap and warm-ups. Goggles will also be needed. Parents will be asked to contribute to team breakfasts and help with carpool to school if needed.

According to MHSAA, practice may not start until August 3.
Exact days and times of practice will be given at the meeting Tuesday.

If you have not sent the following to me, please do so.
